About US

The architectural influences at Riverside Lifestyle Estate come from the lands original use as a brick factory. It’s hard to imagine the brick factory’s frenetic activity on this riverside site today.

When the brick factory was established over 100 years ago, it was far from the city’s urban boundary. Due to population growth, the city made land available for suburban development. In the late 1970’s, the tranquil suburb of Nahoon Valley Park, in which this development now sits, was established. This suburb has quickly become a favorite, not only because of its excellent access to the city via the dual carriage North East Expressway (10 mins), but also because of its easy access to the N2 and N6 national highways.

Although it must have been a decent trek (13 Km) to the city for the brick wagons a hundred years ago, The Riverside Lifestyle Estate is now a convenient 40 minutes away from Bhisho, the capital of the Eastern Cape Province, and is at the hub of the road links to the trading centers of Mthatha and Queenstown.

A village atmosphere pervades the adjoining suburb of Abbotsford with its quaint pubs, liquor store and convenient Spar Shop. A mere 3 Km away is the largest regional shopping and entertainment centre in the city. The Hemingways Mall and Casino, with its rich variety of entertainment options (ten-pin bowling, movie theaters, amusement arcade, restaurants) and a variety of high-end shops which meets discerning shoppers needs. This shopping mecca is a great convenience to residents of The Riverside Lifestyle Estate.

It’s no wonder that the developers, The WF Osner group, decided to convert these disused brickfields into an upmarket Lifestyle Estate.

The architects have paid homage to the lands past. Industrial chic, comes to East London. Paradoxically the same approach is not uncommon in London’s East End where developments such as Canary Wharf have followed this same approach.

The architects have cleverly converted the old brick kiln into the modern and stylish duplex Brick Factory Apartments, which are available as furnished and unfurnished rental stock.

Existing buildings have been converted to accommodate the lifestyle centre attractions such as a state of the art fitness centre, and convenient up market bistro. Some of the original brick making equipment has been carefully preserved and is on display to complete the industrial chic theme.

The first 80 architecturally designed homes were completed in 2013 and the Brickfield Apartments are all sold out.

The current phase II offers 136 architectural designed free standing homes in a beautiful gated estate with full access control. This estate now offers you the chance to join a unique, secure and convenient lifestyle.
